Friday Friday Friday. Where have you been all my life? Or more accurately where have you been all my week? Loverboy knew what they were singing about and I am most definitely working for the weekend.
Speaking of singing, the bitch is back. The Elton John/Britney Spears collab dropped overnight and here it is. Crank. It. Up.
Is it as good as Cold Heart, the Elton/Dua Lipa collab? We’re too competitive as a society—who cares if it’s better? It’s Elton and Britney, free from her conservatorship and singing with a god! Plus, “better” is subjective and there’s really no need to be so judge-y (another annoying societal problem).
I mentioned last week that this time of year finds me a little blue, and that hasn’t changed, overall. My attitude about it has improved a little bit, though, with a lot of time spent re-re-re-re-re-reminding myself that the blue can be as light or dark as I make it. So I’m endeavoring to, in the language of a box of Crayola 64s, be more cornflower and less midnight about things.
One thing that’s helping is the fun that starts this afternoon when we head to Gillette Stadium to see Kenny Chesney (and others) in concert. While I’m still a little bummed that Michael Franti and Spearhead are no longer on the bill, the third time really is the charm—after cancellations in 2020 and 2021, we’re finally able to get out there and use our tickets. This is my first post-COVID concert so needless to say I’m very excited about all of it. Live music of any kind sends my soul soaring. Throw in some of my fave peeps and you got yourself a winnah of a night right there. We’ve got our pre-paid parking space and our tailgate games, so all that’s left to do is order up the sandwiches from That’s Italian and pack a cooler…then we are good…to…go. Make that great to go. 😄
Been a pretty fun week since we last hung out here, which fuels the good vibes. Had a great day at my aunt’s 70th surprise party on Saturday and it was awesome seeing friends and family that I hadn’t seen in way too long.
Got a big old cortisone shot in my aging nagging shoulder on Tuesday so I can finally move my arm without wincing and can sleep at night. We celebrated my oldest niece turning 21 on Wednesday, a day late. You know these crazy college “kids” and their hyperactive social lives. (Special shoutout and best wishes to AMK as she heads out this morning to slay her senior year at CUA in DC!) And, since we just saw my mom at dinner Wednesday we cancelled our weekly post-Tai Chi get-together so I could go watch Kerri’s Bulldogs play in the championship hockey game against some of my other faves, the Red Hots. Bulldogs lost 3-1, game was a fun watch, rink wasn’t too cold, parking lot after party was 🔥. Happy to see some fun, awesome people after (you guessed it) way too long. Kerri actually plays for the Red Hots at the NEPHC each year—always a signature weekend. Want to know more? The experience of that weekend is summed up here:
See? All good stuff this week! Make that great stuff! Oh, and for the big bonus, after four days of character-building ice-cold showers, we got a plumber to come by and fix up the the boiler. Score!
See? Big week!
I’m not going to carry on and belabor the point of this feel-good Friday. In summary: I had a great week, I feel physically good (relatively speaking), and I’ve got lots of fun lined up—and, contrary to what you might have been told, that (and not the Hokey Pokey) is what it is all about!
Hope you had a great week, feel good, and have lots of fun lined up too!
Me? Blue?
Nah. Not today. To stick with Crayola 64-speak, I’m way more goldenrod…or maybe lemon yellow. So I’m gonna sit right here and have a another beer…not in Mexico, but in the Gillette Stadium parking lot…and it will do just fine thank you very much. Forecasted thunderstorms and tornado worries be damned!
Thanks so much for being here; I appreciate you, as you know. But even though you know, I’ll never stop saying so because I never want you to doubt that you mean something big to me. I’ll be back with a Maiku on Monday…until then, enjoy the weekend. Love you too!
I was always a huge fan of Cerulean blue. Its blue, but happy, ocean, feel good blue. It works :)
