Kind of a quiet weekend here, getting caught up on life, trying to make sense of the world (no luck), and trying to get my mind organized as I head into my first full work week in almost a month.
There are pros and cons to everything and scheduling a vaca to start and end midweek was genius in that the vacation feels longer than it was and beastly in that it feels longer than it was. But you gotta pay to play, so alas here I am about to enjoy the remaining few minutes on the couch with coffee before my morning commute upstairs…processing…processing…processing...and exhausted after a brutal night of racing-mind syndrome fueled insomnia.
Speaking of pros and cons, there are pros and cons to my schedule for this writing experiment, namely that it “requires” me to write on back-to-back Fridays and Mondays every five weeks…it’s always a bit of a challenge finding some fresh material (not sure I always succeed 🤣🤣🤣)…and this morning finds me still thinking about what I wrote on Friday…
It definitely was one of my favorite pieces, probably because it’s about my favorite “things,” so coming on the heels of that, what to say? I’m definitely in a very active (over)thinking mode, yet I’m struggling a bit to focus, and that’s ok. But every time I hit the Friday-Monday part of my schedule and I struggle with content, I also wonder whether you’re thinking “enough is enough, I just heard from her…” (Let me know what you think—the schedule can change!)
But anyway…
While I was on vacation, I stayed away from the news. I knew it was bad, so why bother with details? I came back from vacation to learn some of what is going on with this war. Of no-fly zones and sanctions, of nuclear reactors on fire, of multi-millions of refugees, and of rising gas prices. I also came back to blame and finger pointing and firm beliefs that political party is the problem.
But politics aren’t to blame, and thus this week’s Maiku is born.
Putin is a putz.
Commonsenselessness prevails.
People: the problem.
Seriously. Switzerland is no longer neutral. “I’m Switzerland” is no longer a way to bow out of an argument. Let that sink in for a minute. The world is so fractured that the divide between sides got too big and lonely for its oldest inhabitant.
It’s.
That.
Bad.
The world is a messy f-cking mess.
But you know what? My life isn’t about The World. It’s about My World. And My World, as I wrote about Friday, is pretty GD blessed right now…and so I’m gonna enjoy what I have while I have it.
So there’s that, and that’s what will get me through the week.
Thanks for being here. Hope you find some blessings to get you through the days ahead as well.
Love you too.
