The other day I was walking as a normally do—one of my standard routes, taking it all in—and then my head started to spin. Once all the colors came into focus, I started snapping pics as best I could without breaking stride.
Here are a few:
Amazing, right?
It’s that time of year when the technicolor rebirth of all things bright and beautiful presents itself at virtually every turn—and it is eye popping. Spirit fueling. Soul igniting.
In a lot of ways, nature has it kind of easy, you know? The birth, the re-birth, the blossoming…all of it happens, well, naturally. And somehow it always ends up looking gorgeous.
It’s definitely not as easy for us humans to cycle through things—even on my best days, I *never* look that good. 🤣🤣🤣
Consider this 150+ year old Banyan tree in Lahaina, HI. Here you can see the damage it sustained in the devastating August 2023 wildfire:
And here it is one year later, in growing splendor:
After the fire, even though there were signs of living tissue, it wasn’t immediately clear that the tree could be saved. Ultimately, it was, through a combination of nature and nurture. Much of the regrowth is due to the removal of dead branches, which forced energy toward the healthy (relatively speaking) branches.
There’s a life lesson in there—and it isn’t so subtle or hidden. 🤔
This week, not only is everything—as *they* say—coming up roses, Kerri came home from her annual golf trip on Tuesday AND we had some great friends over for a very fun catch-up and dinner last night. Bonus points because it was warm enough for us to have pre-dinner drinks outside.
It’s true we’re in the middle of a nasty political sh-tstorm, but it is feel-good Friday. So I’m choosing not to talk about that now. There *is* plenty of good stuff, to so why bring myself down?
Honestly (forgetting about the pollen and sneezing and wheezing and goopy eyes) when it looks this pretty out, when you’re surrounded by love, how can you not feel good?
Thanks so much for being here with me—I appreciate you, so much. Hope you find something to feel good about and have a great weekend. Don’t let the bastids get you down.
Love you too.
And here’s a little additional commentary from me, on feeling good in times like these:
